EarlyON Child and Family Program
EarlyON Child and Family programs are family support hubs offering free, inclusive and welcoming programs for parents, caregivers and young children from birth to six years old. These high-quality programs are designed to cater to the diverse needs of families and children.
EarlyON programs offer parents and caregivers opportunities to:
- Join free play-based programs with their child(ren) either in-person, indoors, outdoors or virtually
- Connect with qualified Early Learning professionals through informal conversations, or one-on-one
- Receive resources tailored to family’s/child’s unique needs
- Attend parenting and child development information sessions and workshops
- Gain knowledge about community resources and services
- Meet and build connections with other parents, caregivers and children in the community
Healthy Babies Healthy Children
The Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program (HBHC) is a home visiting program. Healthy Babies Healthy Children provides eligible families with information, support and connections to community resources.
In this program, parents are connected with a public health nurse and a family visitor. They offer support and services to meet the needs of parents on topics like:
- Connecting with their baby
- Having a healthy pregnancy and birth
- How children grow and develop and what care givers can do to help
- Being a parent
- Breastfeeding, food and healthy nutrition
- Taking care of themselves and their family
- Other services available to care givers and their child in the community
Parents work with their support team to decide which topics to cover in the home visits.
York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program
The York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program (YRPSLP) provides help for York Region children from birth to school entry who have difficulty learning to communicate or to interact. The program focuses on the prevention, early identification and treatment of speech and language problems.
YRPSLP is a dynamic program, which partners with parents and resources in the community to provide help for children close to home.
York Region Early Intervention Services (EIS) delivers programs that support families who have children with special needs in their homes or licensed child care settings. The years between birth and school-entry are critical to a child’s development. York Region Early Intervention Services assists children and their families in this important period.
