EarlyON Child and Family Centers

EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer free programs to parents/caregivers and their children from birth to six years of age. These centres welcome all families to participate in quality programs that

  • help strengthen adult-child relationships,
  • support parent education, and
  • foster healthy child development.

Qualified professionals can help families and caregivers find support, get advice, make personal connections and access a network of resources.

Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program

Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) is a home visiting program provided by Public Health Nurses and Family Home Visitors. HBHC Public Health Nurses are registered nurses who specialize in child health and development. Family Home Visitors (FHVs) are experienced in child growth and development and have received extra training to support families with young children. Our FHVs come from many different cultural groups and may be able to provide service in the client’s preferred language. Interpretation services are also available.

The program is free, voluntary and offered province wide. Clients do not require an OHIP card in order to receive service.

Preschool Speech and Language Program

One in 10 children need extra help developing speech and language skills. Without help, it may be harder for these children to listen, talk, read and play with others. Our Preschool Speech and Language Program (PSL) ensures that every child achieves optimal communication development.

Infant and Child Development Program

Getting early support for children with developmental disabilities is key to increasing the likelihood of successfully achieving child development outcomes and goals. The Infant and Child Development Program (ICDP) supports children from birth to school entry who have a developmental disability and/or risk of developmental delay. We offer welcoming, home-based programming that supports development and provides education and community information to parents, including:

  • Consultation
  • Individual support to parents
  • Parent-child groups
  • Parent training workshops
  • Service coordination with other professionals
  • Support during transitions to childcare or school

Our Developmental Consultants also work with caregivers to build their capacity to support their child’s development. Surrey Place is one of several Infant Development Program providers in the city of Toronto and across the province of Ontario. We are contracted by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).
